Come to the Temecula Chess Club and learn how to play chess!  We are open for free casual play to the public on every Monday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Our chess coaches will teach you how to move the pieces and the basic rules of chess.  This free opportunity will prepare the student to play a game of chess and qualify them to further their chess instruction in our monthly lessons!  It's also a great way to meet other players in the area.  Come join the fun!

5 Round Swiss.  Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.  Time Control is G/25.  Round 1 starts at 11:00 a.m.  Lunch will begin as your second round finishes and last until 1:30 p.m. which is the start of round 3.  Entry Fee is 15 dollars.  1st Place overall will receive 50 percent of the entry fees.  Under 1600 rated highest scoring player will receive a prize of 30 percent of the entry fees.  Prize category based on USCF quick rating.

Junior Joust tournament

United States Chess Federation rated event.  Children's scholactic chess tournament.  Age 14 and under.  Time controls are 15 minutes for each side.  4 rounds.  Prizes!!!  1st place receives 20 dollars, 10 dollars for 2nd, and all who finish 3rd place and up qualify for season finale at the end of each season.  Entry Fee is 10 dollars for players within the Temecula Murrieta area and 5 dollars for players outside of the area.  Registration begins at 3 p.m.  Round 1 begins at 3:30 p.m.

Junior Joust Fall 2018 Championship

Our final Junior Joust of the Fall 2018 season will decide who we will crown as Junior champion.  There is no entry fee and it is by invite only through qualifying in one of the previous tournaments.  Dress code of business casual applies.  4 rounds of G/20 USCF quick rated chess.  1st prize is 30$ and Fall 2018 trophy and title.  2nd place is 20$ and medal, 3rd place is 10$ and medal.  Qualifying players this season are Maxwell Chu, Kireeti Yarlagadda, Evan Zhao, Dennis Zhao, Sai Undi, Joel Smith, Giovanna Bascon, Dkeehksha Parkuru and Brandon Yu.

Do you feel the NEED for SPEED? Join us for our weekly Triple 'F' Speed Chess Tournament! Registration opens at 6:30 p.m. Tournament scheduled from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. The last Friday night of each month. Entry Fee is $5.00.

The number of rounds will be determined by the number of players. Winner receives 50% of entry fees.

Each session is 1 hour of instruction followed by a round of tournament play. The league players will meet once per week for the entire month. At the end of the league, players will be scored based on their performance and awarded medals.

Classes are available weekly on:

Wednesday 4:00 - 5:00 PM (Intro to Tactics)

5:00 - 6:00 PM (League Play- Open to all students that have paid for classes)

The entry fee for Intro to Tactics/League Play is $65 for members and $85 for non-members for the entire month. 

The goal of this class is to prepare each student for the Advanced Lessons by teaching students chess etiquette, check mate patterns, core opening positions, and to practice real USCF tournament rules in a casual and friendly environment.

Please make sure that you or your child is familiar with Chess Notation, 100% confident with piece movement, and opening principles. If you are not sure you have this mastered, you can attend our Chess 101 part 1 and part 2 lessons on Mondays and Tuesdays that teach these principles!

Chess 101 

This class develops young students to become better overall players and is intended to prepare them for growth and tournament play.  Curriculum covers a wide variety of tools and topics, covering everything from openings and endgames to psychology and tactics.

Classes are every Tuesday and Wednesday. Class One starts at 1:30 PM and ends at 3:30 PM.  Class Two starts at 4:00 PM and ends at 6:00 PM.  Calendar shows only 1:30 start time due to space constraints, both classes held on each day. 

Registration is $65 for one student or $100 for 2 siblings per month .  Attend as many classes as you like during the month!

Classic Tuesday Night Tournament 

Time Controls: G/45 +3 seconds increment

Entry Fee  $20.00

Prizes: 1st Overall 50% of Entry Fees; 1st Under 2000 30% of Entry Fees.

2 rounds will be held on each of the following consecutive Tuesdays starting at 7:00 PM each day for the 1st game and 8:45 PM for the second game.  Tournaments last for 1 month each.

Dual standard/quick ratings will be affected.

Please show up before the start time so we can start the rounds on time!
